The simplest Way to be Healthy and Understand Why
|
Review Date: December 27, 1999

I started out by reading Marilu Henner's first two books which were excellent. The "Total Health Makeover", but she referred to Marilyn Diamond in her book and the "Fit For Life" idea. Choosing to do further research I decided to read "Fit For Life" and have never gone back to the old ways of eating. This cookbook gives you more than just reicipes. This book gives us who want to be healthy (and who aren't the greates gourmets) easy and simple menus that are easy to understand, but better yet she explains why she does the things she does, and the principles behind the things she does. It makes it a lot easier for people to stick to a plan when they understand what is going on in their body, and what they can do to prevent some of the everyday aches and pains that are caused by improper food consumption. By no means am I a cook, or a fanatic! But this cookbook makes my life easier and makes it easier to comply with the way I should be feeding my body. Thank you to Marilyn Diamond and harvey Diamond as well as Marilu Henner. I have never said this before, and probably never will again - THIS COOKBOOK COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE and MAKE IT 100% BETTER! I promise.

This book is full of excellent, tasty, healthful recipes based on many, many decades of well-documented and enormously successful research and true practical results - not to mention Marilyn's extensive cullinary experience and skills. Even if you are only looking for great vegetarian recipes, this is the book for you! Don't let the cynical, unfounded personal bias and incorrect statements of one person (the reader from Oceanside) spoil your desire for the great food ideas presented in this great cookbook! If you have the desire to find out more about food combination and natural hygiene and you are just starting out, Harvey and Marilyn Diamond's Fit for Life and Fit for Life II (much more revealing) are also great choices to go along with Marilyn's cookbook. I would urge, as they do, that you read the extremely common-sense, well documented, and well proven facts presented in all of these books and decide for yourself the value of their advice and counsel concerning your health.

I am a firm believer in the principles of Natural Hygiene.Unfortunately, I am a diabetic, and I have read very little in theirpublications regarding Natural Hygiene's application for diabetes. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has info. I have tried almost every recipe in the book, and I have a husband and a toddler to please. They've never turned anything away that I have made for them out of it. It works every time! I strongly suggest this for mom's who are worried about the junk their kids eat!

This is a great vegetarian and diary-free cookbook.I really like the ease of the recipes and the easy-to-find ingredients. It also is a good reference for pantry staples, basic cooking techniques and vegetarian nutrition principles.I've even got my die-hard "meat and potatoes" husband to try some of the dishes (PS:HE LOVED THEM!!).This is the only cookbook that makes me LOOK FORWARD to cooking!
Great wholesome, delicious recipes...

This is a wonderful book for anyone wanting to add whole foods to their diet. This book is equipped with all the info you need to get started from tips on how to stock your kitchen, how to use ingredients that might be unfamiliar to you, how to replace animal ingredients, to delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts. For those of you who love to READ cookboks like they are novels, this is one you can't put down. Excellent info and descriptions of each recipe and advice on how to serve it or what to serve it with. Omnivore hubby has loved just about everything i have made from this cookbook. A must for all kitchens trying to make a difference with healthier eating.
